Tuesday February 26th, 2013
As the Red Sox started their spring training schedule, things are looking promising for a good year at the stage of the grape fruit league.
Pitchers John Lackey, John Lester, Allen Webster, Joel Hanrahan, Ruby De La Rosa all have had successful debuts this past weekend.
Will Middlebrooks is swinging a decent bat; Jose Iglesias of all people on this team hit the first home run this past weekend. David Ortiz and Mike Napoli are working there way back to get some playing time very soon. Johnny Gomes had a monster opening game against Tampa Bay Saturday, as the DH.
As the spring training /pre season progresses there seems to be more positive things to talk about with this team.
This week Red Sox recently retired knuckleball pitcher Tim Wakefield is in camp to work with the pitching staff. Ben Cherington and John Farrell are a perfect combination bringing the recently and icons of the game for the red sox into camp as special assistants to the GM, Pedro Martinez, Jason Varitek and Tim Wakefield this is making of something very special this season.
April 1st is only a very few weeks away, at Yankee Stadium, Opening Day 2013…
