RED SOX NEWS AND NOTES FROM THE FORT…

Boston Red Sox Spring Training is in full swing and all kinds of fun things to talk about this spring, other then the Bobby V, and the players that now reside in LA.

The Red Sox traded for 1st Baseman/Outfielder Mike Carp Wednesday with the Seattle Mariners, Sox part with a player to be named later and some cash. Carp comes with some promising abilities for the future of the team. Carp was injured most of last season, prior to that in 2011 he was ripping the cover off the baseball. The Red Sox have been waiting for Carp and they got their wish, this is a good move by the Red Sox Front Office.

Aceves is at it again, not what we all want to see or hear. Aceves pulled a stunt in practice this past week at the red sox spring training facility Fort Myers, FL. Granted Aceves has a lot of talent and potential to bring to the team, if he continues with these type of actions I can see his career as a red sox will come to an end. Aceves reminds me A lot of former red sox pitcher Julian Tavarez, who’s career in Boston came to a sudden halt due to some of his on and off the fields actions.

Pedro Martinez and Jason Varitek have both been a ideal leaders for the red sox players this season, having both on the staff as special assistants to GM Ben Cherington is a huge plus for the red sox. Pedro is really eating up his new role and loving every moment of it. He wants to help every pitcher and other players on this team he can. Varitek is showing these younger guys what hard work and total commitment to the game of baseball is all about. He has been seen often working with the catchers and other positional players on the team.
