Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo named starters for the 2013 NBA All Star Game

The starters for the 2013 NBA All Star Game were released today and for the 6th straight year since 2008 the Celtics will have at least 2 players representing them in the All Star. Garnett who garnered 553,222 votes. will be headed to his 15th all star game which will tie him with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal for second all time in most all star game appearances. Rajon Rondo(924,180 votes) will be headed to his 4th. Now while being named an all star starter doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re the best player at your respective position, it is an honor to be recognized as one of the League’s premier and one of the most popular players in the league. Kevin Garnett was quoted in saying “Anytime you can say you’ve been playing for countless years, and the fans still appreciate you for what you do, that says a lot.” For a guy like Rondo though while it hasn’t necessarily been a great statistical year for him, it’s hard to argue that any point guard in the East has a bigger impact on his team’s success.
