GameDay Boston

Celtics Have a Few Days Off to Regroup After Rare Back-To-Back Matchup vs. Philadelphia

Last week was a bounce-back week for our Boston Celtics. Even Doc Rivers commented on the recent Celtics team improvement by stating “I like where we are as a team right now”.

The week began on an upbeat, positive note on Wednesday night when the Celtics at home handily defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 104-94! After the game Coach Doc Rivers and veteran team-leader Paul Pierce, even handed out compliments about how impressed they were with the all-around game play of Timberwolves Star Kevin Love! Love was even referred to as one of this era’s great basketball players. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see him as a Celtic?

Rounding or should I say RONDO-ing out the remainder of the week…An all-around good feeling was felt about the team’s prospects after the return of Rajon Rondo who was suspended for 2 games in reaction to a two weeks ago shoving incident. There is a definite shift in how well the team plays and gels when Rondo is running the team.

Next up came the test though as they faced longtime rival Philadelphia 76ers in a rare back-to-back two game series during the regular season. The stage was set… Friday night in Philly followed by a trip back to Boston for the Saturday night matchup. As is usually the case, … the teams failed to disappoint during some intense and exciting hard-fought games.

Friday night’s game went to overtime as the 76ers narrowly edged the Celtics 95-94! The Celtics would bounce back the following night in Boston by beating them decisively 92-79!

Next up during week 6 after a few days rest…The Celtics will face in Boston, the Dallas Mavericks… champs from 2 years ago and coached by former Celtics player Rick Carlisle! Then they finish out the week travelling down to Texas to play Houston on Friday night and then San Antonio on Saturday night! With all this Texas swing this week we’ll have to see if some of the players start saying yeee–haaaawww!!! Better yet would be some continued Celtics victories. Go Celts Go!
