GameDay Boston

Celtics Bounce Back, Rattle Off Three Game Winning Streak

What a difference a year makes! One year ago today NBA fans were left wondering if the NBA season would even happen due to the players being locked out. This year we have a new defending champion …… the Miami Heat and all teams are up, running, and trying their hardest the de-throne them.

After facing the always tough Philadelphia 76ers and narrowly losing 106-100… The Boston Celtics went on an amazing 3-game winning streak. Finally playing well together and showing that they are going to be contenders.

The streak started with a 96-92 avenging road win over the Milwaukee Bucks after having surprisingly lost to them a week earlier.

Next, came an impressive victory over the Bulls in Chicago. These games are always interesting as both are defensive-minded teams with skilled scorers. The Celtics held on 101-95 showing they can continue to run with the top teams too.

Finishing the trifecta win streak was a matchup in Boston against another skilled and solid team…. The Utah Jazz! This would be the most exciting game of the week as it was known as a breakthrough game for Jeff Green after he threw down an incredible dunk posterizing Al Jefferson. Green’s dunk sparked the Celtics and increased their chances of winning, something an online players reward card could help predict! The crowd erupted after one of the most thunderous dunks in recent Celtics history, led by Garnett the teammates mobbed Green, and a statement was made that the Celtics will not be taking any opponent rolling over!!!

Final score: Celts 98 Jazz 93

The Celtics ended the week with a road trip to Brooklyn for the first time this season. Unfortunately, they were Rondo-less and dropped this contest closing the week with another chance to bounce back against the Toronto Raptors! Dropping this contest vs. the Nets shows the Celtics need Rondo to compete and that his league-leading assists average makes the Celtics team play much better. We’ll have to see how our team plays heading into Week 3! Go Celts Go!
