GameDay Boston

Patriots Nation is Anxious….Is it Thursday Yet?!

Since Superbowl XLVI on February 5, 2012, as the clocked ticked down to zero my husband and I sat in our section at Lucas Oil Field Stadium among thousands of other Patriots Nation fans with confetti falling on our heads, we were left to go over the “what-ifs” and to anxiously await next seasons redemption as loyal fans do.  Finally the day has nearly come and Pats fans who have packed each and every open field practice with league record attendances are ecstatic for whats next come Thursday night at 7:30 pm ET.  Tommorow the New England Patriots will stand on Gillette Stadium field in their first preseason game against the scandal clad New Orlean Saints, led by the mutual record breaking quarterback of last season, Drew Brees.  Tom Brady will once again step on field for likely a short time with the goal of leading his team and Patriots Nation to yet another Superbowl trip back to where it all began when he led the franchise to their very first Lombardi in the Big Easy.  New England begins the preseason as early odds favorites to win a 4th Lombardi behind the winningest quarterback in the league, Tom Brady.  But all those hopes aside, tommorow we get to finally see the new look Patriots.  A team with a much improved defense and highly lethal arsenal of receivers for Brady, Hoyer and yes even Ryan Mallet to use at their disposal. Wes Welker, Brandon Lloyd, Donte Stallworth, Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez and Deion Branch……just to name a select few.

For the 2012-2013 season these new look Patriots still keep late beloved owner Myra Kraft on their minds, but this year is about something even bigger.  With the league’s easiest schedule that once led them to 17-1, they once again have the chance to make it 18-0 with a 4th Lombardi on their mind…for the Kraft family, for the record books, for Patriots Nation and themselves as well.  Make no mistake, this season is all about redemption and if indeed a team wearing red, white and blue wins it all the victor quarterback will not have a twin brother.
