With so many injuries this season, the Red Sox have had to rely on lots of inexperience to play as if they’ve had years of big league experience. One of those players is Pedro Ciriaco.
The 26-year-old shortstop has been playing on the opposite side of the infield, filling in for injured second baseman Dustin Pedroia.
Granted it’s a very small sample size, but has been impressive in his role. Ciriaco is 10 for 16 (.625) with 2 doubles, 4 runs and 6 RBIs. His electric speed has helped him swipe three bases while also allowing him to beat out infield singles and prevent grounding into double plays.
Here’s the link to the video of his interview after his 3 hits and 2 RBIs sparked the Red Sox to a 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays last night.
