GameDay Boston

Another TE to the New England Patriot Mix, Veteran Bo Scaife

We all are aware that the NFL and the team rosters are ever changing.  Well, get ready Patriots fans cause here’s another one for you! Veteran tight end Bo Scaife formerly of the Tennessee Titans, has been added to this years New England roster.  Scaife’s signing also brought upon the release of three others beginning with  DL Markell Carter, OL Jon Opperud and TE Nick Melillo.  Simply put, OL Carter spent the 2011 year on the practice squad while OL Opperud and TE Melillo were rookie free agent signings from 2012.

What the Patriots stand to gain from this besides another tandem and backup for TE starters Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez is a 6’3” 249 pound six year veteran.  Add to the mix the 6’4” 252 pound TE Daniel Fells formerly of the Denver Broncos; and Belichick once again has his offensive roster stacked to the core.  One things for certain, if your on the Patriots offensive roster, camps will be no walk in the park because the competition for the few other available positions is going to be fierce for TE and WR’s as well.
